Google keeps re-inventing its Chrome app store constantly. There are a lot of cool new apps that make life easier, especially for the on-the-go end user. At a time when desktops are disappearing and the demand for offline apps is increasing, the Chrome app store has come out with a pretty impressive list of apps that do not occupy a lot of memory on your device. The following list of apps gives a clear idea of where the Chrome app store is headed: 1. Codenvy IDE: This gives you the chance to write code right inside Chrome. It is a collaborative app and enables developers to use PHP, Python, JavaScript, Heroku, Google App Engine and lots more. The collaborative feature of this app helps it stand apart from the usual crowd of development apps like CoffeeScript IDE or ShiftEdit. 2. Google App set : You can get everything from Google Drive to Gmail Offline to Google Keep right in the Chrome app store. The most amazing aspect of Google apps is that all of them are active offline. The same goes for Goggle Calendar or the Chrome Remote Desktop. With Google apps that work offline, it is easy to find and use information and the process is similar to online data access. Google apps are one-of-a-kind apps and deserve a special mention in the Chrome app store. 3. Tomatoes: This is an app that keeps you on your feet all day. Based on the Pomodoro technique of work efficiency, the app helps you check your work-score. You can set a time frame of twenty-five minutes and check your progress. You can also compete with others on a leaderboard. 4. WeVideo: Bring out the video editor in you through the nifty video editing app, WeVideo. It enables you to split video clips, trim and add multiple effects. It’s not a replacement for Adobe Premier but a smart app for the video editing hobbyist in you. It covers many basic editing needs and is a neat little app for editing novices. 5. TwistedWave: This is Chrome’s audio editing app that allows you to modify audio files for up to thirty seconds. You can slice them, remove fade outs, add audio effects and save everything in SoundCloud or Google Drive. All you need is a free account sign up. 6. Write Space: This is another Chrome app that also works offline. This app has a built-in data saving feature and presents a no-distraction writing space. It resembles Google Docs in a few important ways. The writing area can be personalized and is contained in the browser completely. 7. Pixlr Editor: It is a photo editing app that allows you to apply basic photo effects and alterations to the image file. You can alter the color and apply popular filters like Vignette or HDR to your images. Not a high ended photo editing app by any means, Pixlr Editor is a handy tool for the on-the-go photo editor in you. 8. Cryptocat: This app is meant to keep all your chats locked up and private, exactly the way you want those to be. It ensures that there is no intrusion of your chat privacy and that you can converse with friends without worrying about conversation spies. These apps are very popular among Chrome users and free them from filling their devices with numerous useless software and extensions.

Google has made another move towards Cloud based web development by introducing Cloud Messaging Push Notification for web developers. This service has already existed for Android app developers and now Google has advanced the concept to web developers as well. The popularity of the push notification among app developers prompted Google to take this giant leap. With this service, mobile app developers can enable remote app activation. The new Cloud Messaging based Push Notification for Chrome OS and Chrome is all set to help Chrome app developers and Extension designers connect to the app remotely and send periodic alerts to users. This has come loaded with a lot of benefits for users. Earlier users could get news feeds only through Chrome apps playing in the background. Unless these apps or extensions actively filtered data from the server, users had no way to get tickers and updates. However, all these changed when Google introduced push messaging notification for web developers. How the Cloud Messaging Push

In just five years, wireless TV solutions like Netflix and Hulu have totally revolutionized the way we watch TV. Now, as major allies within the television industry begin to partner with these innovative entertainment purveyors, it seems that wireless on-demand content may become an even more indispensable staple of tube town. Netflix And Hulu: The Wireless Mavericks Established in 1997 as an online alternative to brick and mortar video stores, Netflix quickly expanded to include subscription rates in 1999. At first, Netflix users simply received and returned all content via mail, but in 2007, the company began to move away from DVDs towards wireless, streaming content. This service grew in popularity just as wireless television provider Hulu was established in 2008. Unlike Netflix, Hulu was created from the start as a partnership between several media corporations, including NBCUniversal. In the ensuing years, both services have continued to grow in popularity, honing their subscription models to deliver ind

The UK digital switchover is now complete, making all TV in the UK now completely digital. Services are available on satellite and cable, through broadband and also via Freeview, which transmits through an aerial. Digital TV allows TV companies to broadcast better quality sound, a higher quality of picture and a wider range of channels than ever before. As well as this, digital TV allows users to access further information through a series of menus, allowing a level of interaction with televisions in a way that was never previously possible. As well as this, viewers can also listen to the radio via their television and watch archived programs through digital ‘on demand’ services. Viewers can even access the internet through some digital TVs. Digital TV is also more efficient than the old analogue service. Digital TV can carry many more TV services in the spectrum previously occupied by one analogue service. Switching off the analogue services also frees up spectrum that can be used for a range of

CES showcases some of the best technological advancements in gadgetry every year. This year too was no different. Of all the various gadgets presented this year, the best we got to see was the brand new Tactus keyboard. We have seen numerous renders of physical keyboards for tablet devices, the most recent one being the cover type ones that come with the Windows surface tablets. Tactus however took the concept of the keyboard a step further. The Tactus keyboard is a layer of flexible cover that has been filled with fluids. This layer becomes the physical keyboard when a user needs it and just goes back in when not required. Still not sure how that would work? It is quite plain really. When the keyboard option is selected, the fluid-filled cover swells up in the shape of actual keys. Almost like the bubbles of a bubble wrap cover. These little bubbles are capable of providing tactile feedback for a physical keyboard experience. Once you are done with your typing activity, closing the keyboard makes the buttons

Apple is always at the forefront of any technological innovation. The same is true for the integration of voice activated control and mobile maps app with the car console. Apple has been working hard on integrating car consoles with its iOS 7 applications like Apple Maps and Siri. A voice controlled navigation system in your car that is powered by Siri is not a distant dream with Apple taking forward the concept of Siri Eyes Free. Several online publications have said that Apple is aggressively moving towards fitting cars with Siri controlled Maps. According to Apple’s plans, we can have our car’s console loaded with Siri and Apple Maps any time later this year. The latest Siri Eyes Free (iOS 6 version) for cars allows sending of texts to anyone in the contact list through voice command with Siri at its core. It also makes it possible for you to access calendar and play music directly from your iTunes library. General Motor’s Chevy Sonic and Spark are the only cars that have adopted Siri Eyes Free after 11 mo

Do you remember the moment when you enjoyed playing Angry Birds for the first time? Or, perhaps you remember the time when you first held the glittery iPhone 4 in your hands and thought if a phone could really be so beautiful. Now a new company is promising to bring the addiction of Angry Birds and the minimalist magnificence of Apple‘s devices in a single product. The Idea behind the Game The idea behind the new initiative “Dots” is relatively simple – connect the dots. It takes inspiration from an old game we all played with our friends and classmates when we were children. We played it during humanities class, and with siblings on long journeys. A company, Betaworks, is promising a digital edition of the same old game, with a twist. The twist is that the rules have been changed a little to make the game more suited to the digital world. No longer do you need another player for a competitor. There are no rules that only allow single lines at a time. Instead the game asks you to connect the dots that h
