The actress looked effortlessly chic wearing an Escada gown with a beautiful floral lace motif. Carey Mulligan attended the Tiffany & Co ‘Great Gatsby’ dinner at Rockpool in Sydney, Australia on Thursday evening. The British actress has been sticking to a minimalistic look throughout her promo tour, in what appears to be a conscious effort to look the total opposite to her character in the movie. While even I have celebrated her simplistic efforts, this is just one minimalistic look too many for my liking. Carey wore a black Dior cap-sleeve gown which doesn’t provide much of a talking point at all. Had the dress been a few inches shorter we would’ve gotten a chance to see what appear to be neon-green Dior pumps. Here is a round up of the looks from the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening. Janet Jackson: The singer has had many memorable moments at this event, sadly this will not be one of them. Her head-to-toe ensemble is simple and chic, however it is not on par with her Haider Ackermann look from the 2011 event. She styled her look with white ribbon Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and a Paolobongia ring. Bonnie Wright: Those who remember Bonnie from last year’s event will know that this is much improved. The actress opted for a simple very elegant black dress with a v-neckline which she styled with a gold clutch and opulent earrings. Aishwarya Rai: The Indian beauty wore traditional look on this occasion selecting a gold sari which was elegantly wrapped over a gold blouse and styled with gold accessories. Is that too much gold for you? Louise Roe: The British TV presenter often delights with something new. On this occasion, she wore a Randa Salamoun gown incorporating a bold mix of colours including purple, black and red. As her gown is quite dramatic, I love that she kept that going with the smoky eye makeup and sweeping tresses. Her gold clutch and shoes were by Jimmy Choo, while her jewels were courtesy of Kimberly Macdonald for LoveGold Live. Kat Graham: The star wore a black Marchesa gown with a lace bodice and feather peplum. We shouldn’t be at all surprised by the edgy styling which included Swarovski jewels and deep black cherry lips. Smooth out blonde tresses and a Marchesa quartz clasp clutch completed her look. Ellie Goulding: The British singer wore a silver scatter beaded and embellished gown by Brazilian designer Patricia Bonaldi. Such a shame about the hair. Here is a round up of all the models who took to the red carpet on Thursday evening for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening before taking to the runway for the fashion show. Karolina Kurkova: Cavalli created an uber hot black cut-out gown for the sensational Kurkova. This woman couldn’t look bad if she tried. Aside from the serpent bracelet, she let the gown do all the talking…and it’s sayin’ “don’t I look hot?” Joan Smalls: The gorgeous model worked a Givenchy Fall 2013 floral sequin sheer gown with a sheer sweater with leather appliqués. I had expected Ciara to have worn one of these looks by now. I didn’t have high hopes for this portion of the collection, but it does translate rather nicely off the runway. I am intrigued to see the look sans sweater. Karlie Kloss: Is she just not trying anymore? The model wore a Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013 look which is uber chic, but just not enough for a gala event. She could’ve worn anything she wanted, so I wonder why she chose to wear this. Maybe she just wanted to be less obvious like many of her fellow models at this event. Bianca Balti: The stunning model was the picture of perfection wearing an Alberta Ferretti Fall 2013 black tiered tulle and chiffon gown. Of the models, she was easily one of my favourites. Alessandra Ambrosio: Looking beautiful is her job, and she’s very good at it. This Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture sleeveless, nude silk chiffon gown with beaded embroidery across the waist and a sweeping train was made to grace the red carpet at a gala. Irina Shayk: The hits just keep on coming with Irina going one better in this gorgeous pink sleeveless Elie Saab Spring 2013 deep v-neck gown. Usually I find Irina uber tacky, but she pleasantly surprised me on this occasion. A pink leather belt gold clutch completed her look. Liberty Ross: The model/actress seems to be the one person who has unlimited access to the Balmain collection. Some of the pieces have grown tired as mentioned in a previous post, however, this quilted satin creation is one of the better pieces. I would’ve loved a slicker bun, but she worked it. Lily Donaldson: Along with Irina, Lily was the brightest of the bunch wearing a red Emilio Pucci gown. Chanel Iman: The model channels her inner Alexis Colby Carrington and it’s not good. She’s aged about 20 years here. Petra Nemcova: Wearing Elie Saab for a second night in a row, the model selected a deep blue hue on this occasion which she styled with Chopard jewels. Eva Herzigova: The model becomes one of many stars who have selected Dior during this festival. Her gown of choice was a white silk evening gown with a cut-out detail at the neckline for a fuss-free look. Izabel Goulart: Opting for a goddess green gown, the model should have left the emerald necklace in the vault. The dress and ring combo was enough bedazzlement for this look. Selita Ebanks: So many of her fellow models were working the sexy angle, whereas Selita tried to give us a fairytale princess in her frou frou gown. However, a fairytale princess would never try to work a slit like that. Nude Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals completed her look. Isabeli Fontana: This look just screams attention seeking. Ah, so this is what redemption looks like. Milla Jovovich has been well below par during Cannes Film Festival, however, she made up for it on Thursday evening on the red carpet for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France. The model/actress selected a stunning Valentino Spring 2013 Couture gown. Her delicate blush gown with shimmering floral beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline and tiered ruffled skirt is by far her best look. Sometimes her look can come off quite harsh, but here she is quite the opposite. David Yurman jewels including green beryl and diamond drop earrings and a cognac diamond cuff complemented her look perfectly, with an additional sapphire cuff with a rubellite and diamond ring providing a nice pop of colour. A braided updo and a shimmering pink lip colour completed her look. Much improved, or is Milla having an off year here at Cannes? Anna Dello Russo added some life to the red carpet at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening. The Vogue editor-at-large was one of the few bright sparks on this red carpet, opting for a flamenco style Balenciaga Spring 2013 look which showed off her yoga toned bod to perfection. We’ve seen this style twice before on the red carpet, but this is the first time it has been worn with conviction. A Bulgari clutch and jewels completed her look. Zhang Ziyi took to the red carpet again this evening for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France. She wore a Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture zebra print dress with a tulle black skirt draping from the peplum-like detail. I was trying to figure out what was bothering me about the look — then I realised it was the skirt. The black tulle skirt was equally distributed on the runway, but stops short at the front on Zhang, losing some of the allure of the runway piece as Zhang’s resembles a mullet dress. Mouawad fine jewelery, Ferragamo black peep-toes with gold piping and a black clutch completed her look. Paz Vega kept it simple this evening for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening.. The Spanish beauty wore a Vionnet Spring 2013 black jersey spaghetti strap dress which featured a deep plunging neckline. I was really expecting a major comeback look tonight, but this dress isn’t really speaking to me like so many of her other looks in the past. It’s sad to say, but this look is easily forgettable. After a flirtation with two back-to-back red looks, it was back to black for Dita von Teese who attended the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening. The burlesque star wore a black velvet Ulyana Sergeenko Couture gown. This gown, with a nipped in waist and voluminous skirt, has a vintage vibe which no doubt instantly spoke to Dita; however, I wish the gown was sleeveless.
