Actress Garcelle Beauvais is proud mom to three sons: Oliver, 22, and 5-year-old twins Jax and Jaid. The Franklin & Bash star, 46, has penned the new children’s book, I AM MIXED, as part of the I AM series which celebrates diversity and empowers children. Garcelle opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her own experiences with racism at a young age, her three sons and the joys of motherhood, and her best advice for peaceful co-parenting. CBS: Tell us about your children’s book I AM MIXED. How did you get involved with the I AM children’s book series? Why was it important to you to write this book? GB: “The I AM MIXED book idea came from the need for me to have a book where my kids could see themselves in the characters, and learn to celebrate their diversity and what makes them special. From there my partner Sebastian Jones and I decided to create the I AM series where we can address other social issues from a child’s perspective.” CBS: Did your twins Jax and Jaid give any creative input into your book? GB: “Yes they did. I checked in with them on all the illustration especially when I was putting the character ‘Jay’ together. The were so honest with their ideas that sometimes I wish I hadn’t asked [laugh].” CBS: Like the book says, have your twins been asked “funny things?” GB: “Not now but I wanted to prepare the boys for any questions that would arise when I’m not around. Having come to this country from Haiti at and early age and experience being the only black kid in my school in Massachusetts – where kids would touch my skin to see if the color would rub off or ask about my hair – I felt is was necessary to start the conversation at home. [I am preparing them in case] it ever came up with their peers at school about why they have a black mom and a white dad or why they may look different from their classmates.” CBS: You went through a difficult divorce, can you give advice or tips on how to successfully co-parent? GB: “My only advice Is to put the kids first! They shouldn’t have to be part of adult drama. And you’re also showing them that you may not be married anymore to their dad, but we still need to respect what makes us a family.” CBS: You will star as the First Lady in the film White House Down, set for release in late June. What was it like to play the First Lady? GB: “Well, I had great inspiration with Michelle Obama — I tried to work out my arms [laughs]. It was a fun character to play.” CBS: You’re also starting production of the indie drama And Then There Was You. Please tell us about this project. BG: “I play Natalie, a women who is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after her husband leaves her for a family he had outside the marriage.” CBS: Tell us about your three children. What are they into? GB: “Oliver is my oldest, and he has always had a love for music. He is aspiring rapper. My little guys are Jax and Jaid — they’re 5-years-old and just full of energy and so much fun to be with. I’m the happiest when we’re all together.” CBS: With motherhood, a book and two screen projects, your schedule is pretty full. Do you believe “women having it all” is reaslistic? GB: “I used to think it was attainable but now I believe we put too much pressure on ourselves. We can have different things at different times.” CBS: Do you have any fun plans for the summer? GB: “Yes, I’m taking the boys to New York for their first visit. We’re going to do all the fun touristy things, but I’m sure we’ll end up at FAO Swartz at least more than once.” View Slideshow »» View All Photos »»

Courtesy Marla Sokoloff Our celebrity blogger Marla Sokoloff is a new mama! Since audiences first got to know her at age 12 as Gia on Full House, Sokoloff has had many memorable TV roles — Jody on Party of Five, Lucy on The Practice, Claire on Desperate Housewives – as well as turns on the big screen in Whatever It Takes, Dude, Where’s My Car? and Sugar & Spice. Sokoloff, 32, also sings and plays guitar and released an album, Grateful, in 2005. She wed her husband, music composer Alec Puro, in November 2009 and the couple — plus pup Coco Puro — make their home in Los Angeles. You can find Marla, now mom to 15-month-old daughter Elliotte Anne, on Twitter. Holy tantrums, Batman. I’m not sure what is going on over here but we have entered a whole new universe. Aren’t the terrible twos supposed to start at two? Elliotte is at the 15-month mark so it seems as if we are getting a bit of a head start over here. It happened almost overnight. The word “no” became a constant in our house and suddenly my quiet little peach wasn’t so quiet anymore. Her opinions are quite loud and frequent and she certainly isn’t afraid to let me know when I’m doing something that is not up to her standards. For instance, last week I forgot to add banana to her morning smoothie and she handed it back to me and said, “Nana nana!” Not the most subtle approach, but an effective one to say the least, as you can imagine how quickly I had that banana in the blender! My husband and I noticed that the word “no” was not only coming out of our daughter’s mouth a little too frequently, (I think I was starting to hear the words “No Mama!” in my sleep!) but it was starting to fly out of our mouths even more so. “No eating the dog food,” “No standing in the bathtub,” “No pulling the dog’s tail,” “No throwing food on the floor,” “No licking the bottom of your shoe” “No this” “No that” etc… Courtesy Marla Sokoloff I very quickly started to realize two things: One: I didn’t like the mom I was becoming. It didn’t feel like me to constantly be scolding her for something or giving her that look. (You know the look parents –we all give it.) The kind of mom I set out to be (and strive to be everyday) is a perfect combination of fun and authority. A jokester that can still be taken seriously if you will. Two: saying “no” all the time to almost every move the poor girl was making, became ineffective very quickly. Elliotte wasn’t taking me seriously at all. In fact, it was quite the contrary. Within days Elliotte started walking up to certain objects she knew she wasn’t allowed to touch and would point, saying, “No! No!” The word “No” was a complete joke to her and she knew that me saying it meant absolutely nothing and had zero consequence. If my 15-month-old doesn’t take me seriously now, what does this mean for me when she’s a six-year-old? Or lord help me … a 16-year-old? Elliotte and I have been in the same Mommy & Me since she was three-months-old, and if I could bottle the wisdom we have garnered and share it with you all I would. One of the most valuable lectures that our mommy group guru and trusted leader, Jackie Rosenberg of Babies First Class, has given was the infamous “No” lesson. This discussion came at the very second that we were stuck in our “No” vortex, so I was willing to try anything. Jackie told us mommies to pick only three things that we felt very passionate about saying “No” to and stick to them. Three deal breakers that just could not be negotiated. Her theory is simple: if you are saying “No” all the time, your child will never listen to you. Case in point: Elliotte Anne. Courtesy Marla Sokoloff Here are the three “No’s”

Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo headed out for lunch with their daughter Aviana this afternoon near L.A.  Can you believe Aviana is only three?  She just celebrated her third birthday this month, but she’s so tall, she seems older! Amy has been busy in Boston shooting the new film “American Hustle” with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, but it looks like she gets the weekend off!  Or perhaps they’ve finished up with Amy’s part in the film. The celebrity mom has a busy schedule ahead of her, with a dozen projects in the works.  Up next for release is her turn as Lois Lane in “Man of Steel”. The movie is due out on June 14th, so hopefully that means we’ll be seeing Amy doing a lot of promotion in the coming weeks.  If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, definitely check it out! by Sara McGinnis posted in Celebrities While Jack Osbourne can't exactly say that he's happy to have Multiple Sclerosis, he is able to find parts of his diagnosis story to be thankful for. The son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, who is raising 1-year-old Pearl with wife Lisa, recently spoke to Us Weekly about staying positive. "Every day is an adventure. For Lisa and me, it's been a lifetime of stuff in two years," Jack Osbourne shared. "We met, she got pregnant, I got MS, we got married... I didn't have time to dwell on getting sick." Here's a look at some personal photos the newlyweds have shared online: The 27-year-old continued, "I don't know how I would have been able to cope if it had been 18 months earlier, when it was literally just me and my dogs. I would've been like, 'All is lost'. So, sometimes bad things have to happen at the right time!" Although he initially thought MS "was an automatic death sentence," Jack Osbourne has set about striking balance in his life. While he's willing to change his diet a great deal for the sake of his health, he refuses to give up adventure racing. "I appreciate things more. I don't know how long things will be as good as they are," he explained. "It can become a progressive disease, though, and if it gets bad, the decline can be rapid. That's why I don't want to say my diagnosis was a good thing, but it has definitely put things into perspective." Jack Osbourne isn't alone in having faced health issues. Check out which other stars have spent more than their fair share of time at the doctor's office: Sometimes, as with Jack Osbourne's case, I think finding the silver lining in a situation comes with time. I recently got smacked in the face with it in under 20 minutes. During a recent visit up north to Club Penguin, I got a phone call that let me know we'd have to move out of the home we began renting just 10 months earlier. This was most definitely unwelcome news, and my mind was tempted to go into panic mode about not knowing where we'd move to and having the kids change schools once again. Then the presentation on the charity work the company does around the world started, and perspective landed in my lap. If the worst thing that is happening in my life is that I have to move from one safe, dry home to another, we're going to be okay. Have you been able to find the silver lining in a hard situation, as Jack Osbourne has? I'd love to hear about it. Photo: PR Photos

Jamie Anne Allman and Marshall Allman are sharing for the first time that they welcomed their twins – prematurely – back in January!  Jamie and Marshall had shared their baby news in November, telling family and friends that they were going to be parents to fraternal twins, due in spring of 2013.  Jamie delivered her babies, twin boys named Asher and Oliver, 81 days early. The Killing actress shared that the entire process was not easy – from the pregnancy trouble that included bed rest, horrible sickness and then delivering early via C-Section.   She was on bed rest for months and was miserable, “I puked seven to 12 times a day, and then I peed my pants every time I puked.  I popped blood vessels all around my eyes from every time I vomited, and if I moved slightly I would puke, so I couldn’t really walk to the bathroom.” Jamie shared, “”They wanted me in the hospital for three months because the shortened cervix was slowly disappearing.  Then I got a bladder infection and delivered that day.” After the twins were born, they spent months in the NICU, where she barely got to hold them.  “The first month, I only got to hold them for two hours total. They went through a lot. In the second month, thank God, I got to hold them a little bit more.” Asher and Oliver are finally home with mom and dad.  “Oliver was 2 lbs., 11 oz., and he was discharged at 7 lbs., 7 oz.  Asher was 3 lbs., but he was discharged from the hospital at 8 lbs., 1 oz.” Jamie, who still wants to expand their family later on, says “It was not fun.  I just like to be open and honest and transparent about stuff like that.” Photos by Fameflynet BabyRazzi on Facebook and Twitter
