Sherri Shepherd is passionate about being healthy and will stop at nothing to ensure that she is alive and well for her son. The television personality recently spoke with US News about her experience with Diabetes and the vision that changed her outlook on life. “I ignored it for years because mostly everyone in my family had diabetes,” said Shepherd. “My mom passed away from complications at 41. But there wasn’t really an urgency to change anything because we called it ‘the sugar’ – we didn’t call it diabetes. And when you have a term called ‘the sugar,’ it sounds kind of cute.” Even after being diagnosed with Diabetes and prescribed three different medications, Sherri continued to eat. “First I went to IHOP, the pancake house, and had a big stack of pancakes, sausage and bacon. Then I made chicken pesto pasta – a bowl big enough to feed four people.” The eye-opener came to Sherri in the form of a vision as she sat with her head pressed against her chest after consuming too much food at once. “I had this vision of my son crying, clutching his teddy bear, trying to figure out where heaven was because that’s where everyone said mommy was. That image made me put my head up and say, ‘I don’t want to do what my mother did to me,’ which was leave me at an early age to fend for myself. And I realized, I gotta change my life. Because I don’t want my son to be walking down the aisle with his wife one day, with a rose on the chair in honor of his mother.” Sherri changed her diet and wrote a book, Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes, that encourages diabetics to take charge and strive towards wellness. Although meant to inspire individuals battling with diabetes, Shepherd’s book can also help readers who do not have the disorder. Mom-of-two Kourtney Kardashian was photographed with son Mason, 3, and daughter Penelope, 10 months, in Calabasas, Calif. on Saturday (May 18). Joined by friends, the trio took a trip to the farmer’s market and picked up some fresh produce. Sporting knee high gold gladiator sandals, Kourtney toted her tot who wore a stylish head scarf. Mason looked cute in a red outfit with white sneakers. In April, we spotted Kourtney wearing a black pair of knee high gladiators. Kourtney and her famous family recently had a holiday in Greece, where they enjoyed a luxury yacht and filmed scenes for upcoming episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Major Harris, T.I. and Tiny’s youngest son, had a blast at his birthday party, which attracted lots of neighborhood cuties, last week. Not only did the little one ring in his fifth birthday with his siblings by his side, but he also celebrated the special occasion with Romelo and Rodney Jr., who were every bit excited to party with their friend. Lil’ Tunie(Lil Wayne’s son) was also in attendance at the party. Stepping out in a chic black maternity top paired by skinny jeans and a hat, the expectant singer went to church on the sunny afternoon. Earlier this month, we spotted the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman, 38, in a cute floral dress. Fergie recently opened up about her doting hubby, actor Josh Duhamel, who is loving every minute of their first pregnancy. “He speaks to my tummy and sings to it,” she shared. “He wants to get the vibrations of his voice into the child. Expectant mama Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson stepped out with their 1-year-old daughter Maxwell for lunch at Kings Fish House in Calabasas, Calif. on Sunday (May 19). Dressed in all black, Jessica tried to hide her burgeoning baby bump behind an oversized handbag. “I’m so excited to have a son,” Jessica, 32, shared of their son on-the-way. “He got all these cute vintage cars and I got a lot of little leather jackets I can’t wait to try out!” Jessica has also talked about staying fit during her second pregnancy. “This time around I think because I was doing Weight Watchers and I felt super healthy, I’m not really craving as much and I know how hard it is [to take the weight off] so I’m trying to make healthier, wiser decisions,” the expectant mom said. Jaden Smith is still busy at work promoting his new film, “After Earth.” The young actor and his megastar father, Will Smith, recently attended an “After Earth” press junket at Spaceport America in Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico on May 17th. Jaden and Will have been traveling across the globe speaking to fans and local media outlets to help spread the word about the new film. The father-son duo have also been making time for a little play in between business. Father-of-two Ricky Martin was photographed with his twin sons Matteo and Valentino, nearly 5, in Sydney, Australia on Sunday (May 19). The gorgeous trio enjoyed a fun park playdate where they went down the slide, played on the swings and took a cuddle break. The Livin’ la Vida Loca singer, 41, and his longtime love, Carlos Gonzalez Abella, are in town with the twins while Ricky films Australia’a version of The Voice. In 2010, Ricky came out as “a fortunate homosexual man.” And he recently encouraged Australia to endorse marriage equality. “In 10 years from now hopefully we’ll be laughing about the fact we are talking about this. Justice for all is inevitable,” Ricky said. “We are beings of love and unfortunately because of different codes the church has given us we started saying the way you feel is not right, it makes you evil,” he continued. “But look what’s happening in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, France as of this week, New Zealand …c’mon (Australia).” He went on to say the legal recognition is “not about faith, it’s not about religion, it’s about human rights.
