After a rough start ridden with morning sickness, Jamie-Lynn Sigler is full swing in the sweetest phases of her first pregnancy.
“[At] 12 weeks it’s like something happens — something clicks — and you’re back. I’m in the honeymoon stage of my pregnancy,” the actress told PEOPLE while visiting Drugstore.com at New York Family‘s New York Baby Show Saturday.
“I’m six and a half months now so I’m mobile. I can still move around. I can still put on heels if I need to — but I know summer’s coming.”
And for when those long days of summer officially strike, Sigler’s schedule will include time spent “floating in a pool somewhere” trying to beat the heat and keeping cool in her recently renovated home.
“Just stay inside in air conditioning is my plan,” the Guys with Kids star, 32, jokes. “My whole house has been under construction which has been lovely timing too, being pregnant. So I am going to move back into my house end of June, and I am just going to nest and organize and make his nursery.”
Sigler has big plans for baby boy’s sleep space, which include shying away from the traditional light blue hues and concentrating on a more mature color scheme. “I did a vision board with one of my best friends and her sister is a designer,” she says. “We did the vision board and picked out a lot of our nursery — which is not baby boy. It’s very boy. Instead of baby blue, it’s a navy blue.”
After work commitments that kept the couple apart, the mom-to-be and her fiancé Cutter Dykstra were recently reunited and have been soaking up the time spent together leading up to their son’s big August arrival.
“Being far away from my fiancé is very hard during pregnancy. I’m with him now for the next two months back and forth,” Sigler says. “It’s really special to be able to go through it [together]. Him being able to feel the kicks and stuff like that, it’s great. It’s really fun.”
Dykstra has also been basking in bust bliss, jokes Sigler, who adds her body — particularly her chest — is continuing to grow at a pace that sends her on a monthly shopping spree. “It is strange to have your body change so much. My breasts have tripled in size, which I am sure is fun for Cutter, but not fun for me,” she says.
“It’s been an experience of buying literally a new bra every month. I don’t know if they will stay this size. We will see what happens after [the baby is born].”
For now, the expectant actress is choosing to embrace the pregnancy period — and everything that comes along with pending parenthood — and has done little more than light yoga when it comes to staying in shape. According to Sigler, maintaining her svelte shape is not high on her list of priorities.
“You widen and your body changes and it’s an adjustment, but you just have to keep telling yourself that it’s for the baby, and I will figure it out once it’s out. I am not crazy about keeping my body,” she says.
“It’s a time for you to relax about everything. Everything is better for the baby I think when you are relaxed and less stressed. So, I’m not stressing about anything.”
Looking ahead to life as a family of three, the future mama plans to bring up a bi-coastal baby. “I am from New York, but live in L.A., but also [Cutter] plays baseball, so wherever his dad is, we are going to be a lot of the time,” Sigler says.
Fortunately, spending time in the dugout with Dad — or gearing up for his own games — isn’t likely to be a problem with the little one, says Sigler.
