The Model A, Henry Ford’s replacement for the Model T, was first unveiled in 1927. Like many other Fords it was a mainstay until new technology moved it aside. In this case the flathead V8 was built and so 1932 saw the last of the Model A. The Ford Motor Company used the new Ford V8 to start what became the American automobile business model, making changes each year to keep the customers coming back for more. This plan worked exceptionally well for Ford as the V8 lasted into the 1950s.
This new Museum comes at a time when the Ford Motor Company is having its 110 year anniversary. Mr. Ford was born 40 years before and he built his first car in 1896. When the Auto manufacturing company was founded in 1903 it started producing the Model T and did so with great success right up to the date the Model A was created. He and his son Edsel, the namesake for one of their only unsuccessful models, were both at the company then.
