The seat of American car production, Detroit, will be host to a great double header on June 8, 2013. The Detroit Tigers will be playing the Cleveland Indians that day and they will also be holding their third annual Detroit Tigers classic car show. The show is being presented by the Motor City Casino Hotel and Total Lubricants. If you want to show a car it must be pre 1989, have insurance, be of show quality and be street legal. Also car owners must go through a nomination process online and these nominations have been extended to May 17 – one hundred finalists will be shown. If you are lucky enough to be nominated and you put up the $129.00 entry fee there is an event package available that includes 2 tickets to the game with food vouchers, a couple of t-shirts and a poster. This event pairs America’s game and another great American passion: Classic Cars; now there’s a nice weekend and there should be some real beauties there considering the nomination process. We have a lot of real beauties here at Old Car Online as well. You can browse classic cars here or – if you have a classic car for sale that you haven’t been able to move we might be able to help. Drop by today to find out how we can help you clear out your garage or add yet another classic car to your collection.

The classic Chevrolet Corvette definitely brings to mind different things to different people. Some think of the red car with the white side panels like Otter drove in Animal House. Some just think about the roar of the engine and the more basic car enthusiast might think about the fiberglass body but there is one Corvette that begs to differ on that one. A concept car called the Chevrolet Corvette Rondine that was produced for Italian Coachbuilder Pinafarina and shown at the 1963 Paris auto show will be at the Corvettes at Carlisle show August 23-25 this year. This unique classic is the only steel bodied corvette ever made. The Barrett Jackson auction price for this beauty a few years ago was $ 1.6 million; the highest ever for a Corvette. The body style is that of the 1963 Corvette but there are some subtle differences that give it a more European look. One of a kind concept cars are the dream buy of many classic car enthusiasts but there are many corvettes out there that won’t cost you a million and

When you attend an auto auction you usually can’t tell which vehicle up for sale is the fastest. That was true until a recent auction in Canada that is. The Wall Street Journal had a recent blog post about the Toronto Spring Classic Car Auction and there was a vehicle for sale that no muscle car owner would brag that they could beat in a race. That auction featured a 1983 Boeing 767 – a former Air Canada jetliner that is famous for two things. This was the first plane with an LCD display instrument panel and this plane was also involved in a somewhat dubious accident. Thanks to a change to the metric system the onboard computer thought there were kilograms of fuel on board when it was actually pounds. With only half the fuel necessary to make the trip they ran out of fuel but the pilot glided the plane to a safe landing at a former glider base that was being used that day for drag racing. At Old Car Online we don’t have any airplanes but many of our muscle cars and hot rods could give this former “dr

When you are looking at a classic car for purchase its age may lead you to believe it has long over being a victim of depreciation but this may not be the case. Take the Range Rover for example – it is one of the Depreciation Kings according to Car Buzz, and for good reason. The three different incarnations of the vehicle are all plagued by the British Leyland Legacy of quality problems and the fuel injection system made for it in 1984 has some aficionados complaining mightily about the brand even today. It originally was used more as a piece of farm equipment and then these vehicles became like the Hummer – a jeep like vehicle the British army bought and used. Today they are in the luxury SUV category but are still fighting the old reputation. These vehicles may still be losing more value as they are driven off the lot than they deserve but their undying reputation seems to make this a sad fact of owning one. Purchasing a classic car online at Old Car Online can be a good way of getting behind

The novice classic car buyer and restorer have a lot to learn about their new found hobby. Certainly there is no better place than the internet to search for answers to any questions you may have. Those answers can often lead to other questions though and there are some specific sources where you can find any answer you are looking for. Take the first time Chevrolet buyer that hears the words broach marks. He can check out the term on the web or, since these marks are mentioned a lot when corvettes are in the discussion, research broach marks at the National Corvette Restorers Society lingo webpage. Here a broach mark is defined as marks on the deck of the engine block, including the stamp pad, that were created by the factory machining operation. Some believe these marks can prove you have the original engine but, as the NCRS says, some repair shops place their own version on the engine after decking the block so it isn’t always the best way to tell. The genuine article is what any old car buyer wants and
