Mirjam Hiller makes jewelry sculptures by sawing sheet metal from her Potsdam, Germany workshop. Does this look like it's made out of metal? To craft her jewelry, Hiller first hand saws a piece of a sheet of stainless steel or copper and then bends or folds it into the desired shape. Hiller literally transforms the inanimate metal into pieces that look alive. Hiller's speciality are the brooches that she makes in vibrant colors. I'm amazed at how delicate the pieces look, even though they're made out of metal. It's not surprising that Hiller has been honored with numerous awards.
