Julianne Hough is being called “hypocritical” by former partner Mark Ballas, after her comments on the popular reality TV show, Dancing With The Stars (DWS). The controversy and now name calling stems from Ballas and Christina Milian’s number on Monday. Hough wasn’t too impressed and she let the pair know what their faults were. There were moments where I felt like choreography-wise, I felt like it was two people dancing side-by-side rather than together,” she said after the couple performed for the judges. So I really want to see [Milian] shine. I’ve danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you’re seen. And even though her observations were said to a laughing room, there seemed to be tension in the air and Mark Ballas was awkwardly trying to smile, if you can call it that. Julianne Hough was a pro dancer on the show for five seasons and left after Season 8. She and Ballas are childhood friends, but now they find themselves on opposite sides of the issue. This is what Ballas had to say about Hough’s comments: The one comment for me that was a little funny is that I make it all about me… all the critiques were at me, and not at [Milian]. So I thought that was a little hypocritical comment. “I think [Hough] was very insightful tonight though and gave great tips on lines and how to express. We’ve had a lot of guest judges and I thought out of all of them she was one of the best. So that part, I love. I was the one who kind of got the heat, but you know what, that’s OK! It’s fine. Julianne Hough came back as a guest judge on Monday and her comments about Mark Ballas and Christina Milian’s performance left some shaking their heads. Julianne Hough was a guest judge for Monday night’s performance, and she didn’t pull any punches when the time came to critique former dance partner Mark Ballas and his routine with singer Christina Milian. Hough–a former DWTS two-time champ–let it be known that Ballas tends to choreograph the routines so that he’s the one who stands out, and she wanted this performance to highlight Christina’s talents, too. “I really wanted to see you shine,” she told Mliian. “I danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you’re seen.” Milian and Ballas spoke in an interview after the show about the critique, with Milian hugging Ballas and saying they were “taking the high road” about Hough’s rough remarks. “We take the high road. As long as we know that we did a fantastic job, that makes me happy,” she said. Hough’s judging job also meant she had to critique her own brother, choreographer Derek Hough, who said he didn’t take it personally. “Julianne and I are so honest with each other I understand what she meant tonight,” he said. “She said she kind of wanted there to be something she could say [to critique the performance] so that she wouldn’t seem biased. But I know that if she wanted to she would have taken much pleasure in doing that…It was great, she did a really great job, and I was really proud of her.” Image: screenshot via Entertainment Tonight

On DWTS, Julianne Hough had some harsh words for former partner Mark Ballas. Dancing With The Stars‘ Julianne Hough used to be partnered with Ballas, but it’s probably good the pair are no longer in a position to step on one another’s feet. After Mark paired up last night with Christina Milian, Hough assessed her set with Ballas — and barely hid her contempt. The critique out of nowhere was a bit awkward for sure, as Julianne set into Mark as she discussed his performance with Milian this week. As a guest judge last night, Hough was in a position to be on the other side of the table when her former partner danced — and she didn’t pull punches. Speaking to Milian, Hough was blunt, and she said of the set: “I really wanted to see you shine… I danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you’re seen.” It wasn’t just the audience picking up on the straightforward slight — Milian saw it as well, and addressed it when she answered. Christian shot back, saying to Julianne: “We shine together.” That wasn’t the end of Christina Milian’s commentary on Hough’s remark — after the show, she addressed the moment again, saying of her performance with Ballas: “We take the high road… As long as we know that we did a fantastic job, that makes me happy.” For his part, Ballas admits that Hough’s words were a bit of a shock. He says He tries to take it in stride, but admits to being a little bit bothered by the veiled attack — he said of his former partner’s harsh criticism: “She put a little sting on me, but that’s okay… That’s how she felt. It is what it is.” Were you as shocked by Julianne Hough lashing out at Mark Ballas on DWTS as he was? Julianne Hough Rips Mark Ballas On DWTS [Video] is a post from: The Inquisitr News

Julianne Hough will be returning to Dancing with the Stars as a judge. The 25-year-old professional ballroom dancer will replace Len Goodman on the judges panel Monday night. Professional dancer Tony Dovolani said he respects Goodman’s opinion “immensely,” but that he was excited for Hough to fill in for him. “She’s a sweetheart and I’ve known her for years and she’s got a lot of knowledge,” Dovolani said. “And it would be nice to have a fresh perspective.” Julianne Hough competed in the dance competition from seasons 4 to 8, and took first place with partners Apolo Ohno and Hélio Castroneves in her first two seasons. In season 6, she placed ninth with partner Adam Carolla. In seasons 7 and 8, she placed fourth and sixth with partners Cody Linley and Chuck Wicks respectively. Hough left DWTS to pursue a career as an actress and country music singer. She landed her first lead role in the 2011 remake of Footloose as Ariel Moore, the daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid). Hough also starred in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages, and in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel Safe Haven. She played domestic violence survivor Katie Feldman, and revealed that she was abused as a child dancer in London. “I was abused, mentally, physically, everything,” she said. However, she declined to reveal details about the abuse. “I’m a very forgiving person, and I don’t want to hurt anybody,” she said. “What’s past is past.” Hough released her first country music single, “Will You Dance with Me” in May 2007 to raise money for the American Red Cross. She released her self-titled debut album on May 20, 2008. The record debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, and sold about 67,000 copies in its first week. She won the Academy of Country Music award for Top New Female Vocalist and Top New Artist in 2009. Julianne Hough said of her judging stint on Dancing with the Stars that she will be tough on the dancers, but that she won’t give scores in the four and five range like Goodman. She will judge 10 couples, including brother Derek and his partner, Glee star Amber Riley. “I am so excited because I know how it feels to be on the floor,” she said. “I know what it takes to put all that effort and time each week.” [Photo credit: s_bukley / Shutterstock.com] Julianne Hough Returning To ‘Dancing With The Stars’ As Judge is a post from: The Inquisitr News
