When most artists start trotting out their Christmas albums in advance of the holiday season, it elicits groans of resigned frustration — but Kelly Clarkson‘s doing a few promotional stops to lend support to her upcoming Christmas album Wrapped In Red and it’s bringing nothing but joy. Why? Because it’s Kelly Clarkson, y’all — literally the most sublimely likable pop star in the business. Consider her appearance on Elvis Duran & The Morning Show today, where she chatted with Garrett about the recording of her holiday LP, explaining that most of the original songs were written last year during Christmas to avoid that writing-a-Christmas-album-in-the-summer problem: “We were already in that mode,” she explained. But when they did record the album over the summer, she says she forced everyone to demonstrate a little Yuletide cheer: “We decorated the studio and I made everyone wear Christmas PJs,” she said. And, like, of course she did. As for her personal life, she revealed that there may be some little Kelegends running around sometime soon — ”I want babies right off the bat,” she said — but demurred when pressed about baby names. “I can’t tell you,” she said. “No! I’m not giving my secrets away. People will steal my name.” Later that morning, because she’s a busy bee, she stopped by The View to perform her wedding jingle “Tie It Up,” which was typically exuberant; watch that below. Clarkson’s Wrapped In Red drops October 29.

Musicians On Call (MOC) Nashville is celebrating six years in Music City with an anniversary benefit concert featuring GRAMMY Award-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson. Tickets will be available for purchase exclusively by Citi Private Pass members for a limited time beginning at 10 a.m. CT Wednesday, Oct. 9 with general on sale opening at noon Friday, Oct. 11. All proceeds from the event will go directly to MOC Nashville and its efforts to bring live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. Since MOC’s expansion into Nashville in April 2007, it has brought the healing power of music to over 70,000 patients, families and staff in Middle Tennessee through 12 weekly programs in seven area healthcare facilities including the latest program, which recently launched at Alive Hospice. Through the generous support of artists like Clarkson, as well as sponsors Citi Private Pass, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, and City National Bank, MOC Nashville will continue to thrive and grow. Clarkson has long been a champion for MOC – last year surprising patients and lifting spirits at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with an impromptu performance for the holidays. The vibrant singer is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at this year’s CMA Awards as well as nominated for Musical Event of the Year for her collaboration with Vince Gill on “Don’t Rush.” Clarkson brings her soulful vocals to her latest Oct. 29 holiday release, Wrapped In Red. It's been thirteen years since Patty Griffin recorded Silver Bell, an album that became lost in the throes of record label reorganizing and the ever-evolving recording industry. Some of the songs she recorded on the disc have long since been released on live recordings or included on other albums; others have been recorded by other artists (i.e. two by the Dixie Chicks alone). And now, at last, Silver Bell is being made available in its full, original recording glory, the way it was originally intended as her follow-up to Flaming Red back at the turn of the Century. We'd like to give away a copy to three lucky ND community members.  To enter to win a copy of the album on either CD or vinyl (your choice), simply comment on this post telling us what your favorite Patty Griffin song is, and why. Anyone can enter, but the prize(s) can only be shipped to a US address.   Post your comment/entry as a comment on this blog post. To comment on this post and enter the contest, scroll to the bottom of this page and leave your comment in the comment field. Clicking on the "+add" button at the top of this page will create a completely separate blog post that we will have to delete. Entries will not be accepted via separate blog post, Facebook, or Twitter. The contest will close at 11:59 p.m. PST on Monday, Oct. 7. So, good luck!  Here's some more info about the record, from a press release:  Silver Bell features 14 original songs recorded at Daniel Lanois’ Kingsway Studio in New Orleans by Griffin on vocals, guitar and piano with guitarist Doug Lancio, keyboardist John Deaderick, bassist Frank Swart, and percussionist Billy Beard. Emmylou Harris also joined Griffin in the studio to sing harmony on “Truth #2.” Despite its 13 years of limbo, the sought-after album spawned two huge hits for the Dixie Chicks, who covered both “Top Of The World” and “Truth #2” for their six-million-selling 2002 Home album. In addition, the band’s Natalie Maines recorded Silver Bell’s title track for her recent solo debut, Mother. Through the years, Griffin’s original songs have also been covered by many other notable artists, including Solomon Burke, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Kelly Clarkson, Martina McBride, Bette Midler, Ben Harper, Bon Iver, Linda Ronstadt, Ellie Goulding & Lissie, Melissa Etheridge, Jessica Simpson, Miranda Lambert, Shooter Jennings, and Joan Osborne. Patty Griffin: Silver Bell track listing 1. Little God 2. Truth#2 3. Boston 4. Perfect White Girls 5. Sooner or Later 6. What you Are 7. Silver Bell 8. Fragile 9. Mother of God 10. One More Girl 11. Sorry and Sad 12. Driving 13. Top of the World 14. So Long

Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson closed out their tour on Saturday (October 5) in San Diego, and to mark the occasion, Clarkson joined Adam Levine‘s band during their hit “Moves Like Jagger.” As expected, Kelly kills it, showing up about two minutes into the song and taking complete ownership of Christina Aguilera‘s verse, before busting out some moves with the backup dancers. To close things off, Levine even picked up the axe for a solo (they were a rock band once, after all). Who needs Christina when you’ve got that kind of spectacle? Check it out below. Microsoft and Nokia are not shy in getting product placements for Windows Phone powered Nokia Lumia handsets; we have seen these devices appear on music videos for Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson and others. We also have seen various Nokia smartphones make appearances on television shows like Arrow and House of Lies. The latter in particular was a brilliant move because it showed the phone in the workplace instead of, say, a BlackBerry...Photos:
