Could the Reebok Answer DMX 10 (Answer 1) be the first misstep in Reebok’s comeback?  Since people have been getting their pairs either through early sales, connections or coverage purposes (like what we’re doing here), there have been differing opinions about what is and isn’t in the shoe (namely the DMX tech), the quality of the leather, etc.  I address the controversy in the video, but obviously it wouldn’t be until I actually wore the kicks that I would be able to give some sort of take one way or another. After having worn the kicks on a casual basis (I never wear retros to play on the court) for the past few days (I filmed the video on Monday), I can say that the retro Answer 1s are quite comfortable on my feet.  Now, based on how people describe DMX technology, I didn’t necessarily get that “walking on clouds” feeling, but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything.  It’s no Lunarlon by any stretch, but they still felt fine as I broke them in. As for the quality of the leather, I was definitely more aware of whether or not they crunched up and if they felt “cheaper” in comparison to other Reebok retros.  They did not look noticeably worse after wearing them (no scrunching) but there was definitely a difference in the feel of the upper (especially towards the toe) depending on what part of the sneaker you’re examining.  In other words, if Reebok Classics focused all of their energy on getting the various retros of the Reebok Question right, then maybe they laid off the pedal just a bit with the Answer… The Reebok Answer DMX 10 will be available in stores tomorrow for $150.00.  My advice?  Wear them in-store first and get a feel for them, especially if you’re a DMX believer.  You have the proper context to decide whether these live up the OG pairs or not.  Don’t be that person that just buys them because they’re a nostalgia trip or it might get you extra cred on Instagram.  The Answer lies with you… © jmartinez for KicksOnFire, 2013. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us Post tags: Reebok, Reebok Answer DMX 10, Reebok Classics, Vlog Feed enhanced by Better Feed from Ozh

Nike Skateboarding has joined forced with Hong Kong-based skate shop 8Five2, offering up this pair of Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski Low. The shoe strays away from its typical shoe lacing style, going instead with a double Velcro strap enclosure. Sporting the classic white-on-white colorway, the shoe is crafted from leather, while a matching white Nike swoosh is stitched along the side panel. Finally, a tan lining completes the look. Peeling away from Copenhagen at high speed, participants of this year’s Gumball 3000 intercontinental rally made a brief detour at the port city of Angelhom on the west coast of Sweden. But it wasn’t a rest stop. Instead, drivers took the rare opportunity to check out the headquarters of Koenigsegg, one of the world’s foremost supercar manufacturer. Perhaps jaded by the parade of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Koenigsegg, and McLaren, no everyone took notice at the procession till one – a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss, rode through. With only 75 vehicles made, the Stirling Moss is one of the rarest and most expensive car today. So exclusive in fact, Kanye West purportedly had to borrow one during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. That’s the sound Nike’s servers will make on the 25th. A few months ago, the Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88 dropped to the delight (of those who got it) and dismay (of those who missed out) of sneakerheads around the world.  It was a seminal moment that saw people got all in their emotions for a pair of kicks with “Nike Air” on them.  In fact, it was such a big deal that we actually posted a “survival guide” (that was mostly ironic but asking sneakerheads to see that is like asking them to save their money) to help sneakerheads navigate through all of the rumors and information so that they can be prepared when the day comes.   So we’re back again with another guide to help you get through this epic restock of Air Jordan retros that will be taking place on May 25.  While the Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88 will be the headliner for this restock, there are quite a number of kicks that will also be getting a second (or third or fourth) chance at retail.  So here’s your list of kicks that we know will either be getting a restock online or in-store at your favorite big name retailers.  And don’t worry if you miss out again like this cat below, because like we always say, everything restocks in time… Special thanks to @FootLocker, @ChampSports, @Eastbay, @Finisline, @NikeStore and Nike Talk for putting together most of the info you see here. Nike SB continues to draw inspiration from the most intriguing sources. Here we’re seeing an upcoming pair of Nike SB Dunk Mid that draws inspiration from watermelon. The shoe features a bright green upper constructed from tumbled and and perforated leather. All the while, bright red works the tongue branding and Nike swoosh logo, while a yellow midsole anchors the look. As of now, the sneaker is expected to release in September.
