The AMAZING Amy from ‘Amy’s Creative Side’ is at it again!  She is hosting the annual Bloggers’ Quilt Market!! This is a venue for bloggers to strut their stuff…well…maybe not ALL their stuff..but at least two quilts. This year I chose Button Town to be entered in the Wall Hanging Category!  I love my Button Town and hope you do too!                 I needle turned and hand appliquéd the houses and vine.  I then big stitch quilted around the houses, berries and vines.  The rest of the quilt was machine quilted. The pattern for ‘Button Town’ can be found in this issue of Quiltmania. If you would like to see the other wall hanging entries then go HERE!  Be prepared as there are tons of wonderful Wall Hangings hanging over at Amy’s!!  Hurry on over! Remember to send a little love Amy’s way as she puts a lot of time and effort into hosting this Quilt Show!! Thanks for stopping by…have a wonderful weekend!~P

Boy, those Ottawa girls know how to have fun! And so do those who traveled in from outlying areas…some as far as 4 or 5 hours away to join with us in sewing up the scraps ----and learning some nifty tricks with the Easy Angle and Companion Angle Rulers. This quilt came completely out of my 2.5” strip bin BECAUSE of these rulers…and you can put them to good use too! You’ll find the pattern

I have this stack of 9 patches from a long time ago-probably somewhere about 5 years ago. In my continued zeal to empty my bits and pieces drawer, I decided these would be good for the Bricks Quilt, as the Block. I would like to combine them with some of the pastels from my Big Pastel Tub. Toward that end, I looked through my Color Combinations Board on Pinterest. One selection really struck a nerve.Color Combination from Design Seeds(The coloring from EQ is a poor interpretation at best.) Then I decided these 9 patch blocks may not be worthy of such a great color combination. So I looked through some fabrics and pulled these two selections. Maybe I'll let the pink prints do the work of the 9 patches. I love pink with turquoise. I remember a little sailor dress I had when I was in 1st grade that my mom sewed for me. It was pink and turquoise. I think I'll stay in this color group for awhile and see where it goes.

If you missed yesterday’s post then you didn’t get to see some of the incredible quilts that were hanging at our annual Hands Across the Water celebrations!  You might want to go back to Part 1 for a look-see! The rest of us will wait while you catch up… At the Hands Across the Water get together there were tons of door prizes… AND of course there was our Basket Raffle!  This is a huge money maker for the hosting guild.  And we had vendors…yes, a little shopping is just what the quilters ordered!  :o))) But let’s get on with the show… I have a few more Heritage Quilts to show you before I hand the mike over to visiting guilds… This isn’t a quilt but I just HAD to take a picture of this unique quilt hanger…looks hand made… I thought you might like to whip up a few…a couple of turns with the pliers and presto…An amazing quilt hanger…!!  The perfect gift for any quilter… OK…now it’s time for our visitors to strut their stuff…and strut they did!!  Amazing quilts!  Told you they were talented! And this was just a small sampling! But not to be out done…we brought out the big guns…our own Gloria S. Daily…Quilt and Fibre Artist extraordinaire!  [You can visit her website HERE.] Gloria shared a snippet of her newest project ‘Blanket Story’ (geeze, I hope I got the title correct…I REALLY need to write things down!!)  Her work is focused around wool blankets…and each finished creation tells a story.    We heard just enough of the story to hook us…now we have to go to the SHOW to hear the rest of her story! This one was my favourite…loved this quilt and the STITCHING!! Thanks you, Gloria!  Gloria always puts on a great show and the ladies from across the water were notably impressed!  AND because their mouths were hanging open, we thought we better feed them!!   Ohhh my…what a spread…but then we quilters do like to eat!  Next to quilting, it probably our most favourite thing to do!      The last thing on the agenda was the big draw for all the Raffle Prizes… Sandy cleaned up!  She won what she was after…this lovely pot and a BOM appliqué pattern called ‘Heart and Home’…and she was just saying that she would like to try her hand at appliqué!  Looks like she gets her wish…times 12!!  Be careful what you wish for!!:o))) Now I’m wondering WHO won this basket full of goodies?…Yup…it was ME!!  I never win anything in REAL LIFE!  I think my luck has changed…first stop on the was home was to the Lottery counter! It was a great day!!  I was exhausted..man it’s hard work having fun ALL DAY LONG!!  Just imagine how Carol’s committee felt!  Thanks you Carol and Crew for all your hard work in organizing and executing this event!  You out did yourselves!!  Sew the Banner gets passed to the ladies across the water!!  Next year we are off to one of the Islands!!  I can’t wait…and you of course will get to come along! Thanks for spending part of your Friday morning with me!!  I hope it’s sunny in your little corner of the world!  It’s rainy here…but it’s all good.  I have a sweet little quilt top begging for a touch of appliqué…(key word..just a TOUCH!) ~P

You will have to excuse me because I am going to drop the "F" bomb! Because did somebody say FREE????? Loads of backing fabric..............................FREE!!!more backing Fabric...........................FREE!!!Bad picture but too lazy to go back downstairs and do another one.... FREE!!!!This is about a yard each... FREE!!!!Look at all of these panels with their backing fabrics..............FREE!!!!Fat Quarter size or larger................ FFFFFFFREEEEEEE!!!!!Sheweee.....did I say FREE??????I am sorry, that free word may be offensive to some..........Now keep in mind that I do not need one more piece of fabric but when you have the disease like I do....you just can't help but say bring it on over (blushing as I am saying this). This gal calls me up, she found out through a friend that I quilt. She asked if I would like some or all of her fabric since she was just going to take it to Goodwill. So I am thinking, if she is taking it too Goodwill........I will do the goodwill jester and take it all off her hands. (I know, you all are thinking what a saint I am)...HA!!So I have done my good deed for the day!!!My mother and two sisters went to Marshall's the other day, outside of Little Rock, Arkansas.....it is a wonderful discount fabric place. As my sister was going, she text me and said "We are on our way to Marshall's"....wasn't that mean of her? Rub it in won't ya!!!Well...Beverly..........who is rubbing now????Oh yea...oh yea....doing the dance...doing the dance....So...which leads me to this....I can't just keep all of this to myself....I will put some fabric in a prepaid envelope...just comment and I will chose a winner in a few days.jewels of advice

Yesterday I locked myself out of the house when I went out to get the bus. THANKFULLY I had both the babies with me. It took Jack and I a good 30 minutes to break in. Being locked out spurred my angrily cleaning out my very messy garage. Three hours later my garage is a garage again! I can actually walk through there to put poopy diapers in the outside trash 18 times a day again. :-)I bought all this stuff last weekend at two garage sales. The flea is just really bad this year and targeting certain garage sales seems to be my luckiest bet. These are child sized. Two whole ornaments. :-)These are also play sized. The cookie sheets say "cooky" on them. The world's tiniest measuring cup.I think this might be the top to a butter dish? Either way it's a good size for collecting whats its in places where that kind of stuff collects.I really never buy old portraits...But I was COMPLETELY smitten with this baby and his father. The way he is looking at that baby is just so sweet.I paid a little more by targeting a yard sale, if they advertise it they obviously know what they have. BUT it saves me from driving around aimlessly. Which I tried too. And only bought one thing. It is a super awesome thing though, must get a photo soon. And praise Jesus that it is finally Friday. We are taking all of the kids (nieces and nephews too) to get a portrait done tomorrow for my parents of all the grandkids. THAT should be entertaining.Wish me luck. LOL

My daughter and I love to search for vintage things. From linens to glassware, we love to find something old. A very special aunt taught us a lot about finding a treasure. We used to go to garage sales, thrift stores and antique malls with her through the years. She always loved pretty things, and she passed that love onto us.Vintage quiltMy dd found this lovely Wedgewood teacup. She gave this special cup and saucer to a dear friend of hers whose mother had just passed away.DD found this old Singer sewing machine when she lived in the windy city and brought it all the way back to Florida with her.She also brought back this vintage fan :-)And this really cool Brownie camera. This cream pitcher belonged to my grandmother. It has little men's faces all the way around. I never knew my grandmothers very well, because they both died when I was young. So it is really special. And this is my very favorite. This lamp also belonged to my grandmother. One of my aunt's had it in her bedroom. One of the panes was out, and I offered to have it fixed for her. She told me that if I got the pane fixed, I could have the lamp. Was I ever thrilled!!! The pane was perfectly matched by a stained glass company locally, and this lamp sits in my family room.Yes, I am just an old fashion girl.
