Howdy all - I am very behind...for the first time in weeks I got back in to the studio today. I will say I had a lot of time to think about what I was going to do for my piece. I have a piece of orange cotton lame' that we marbled about 10 years ago, and it is one of those pieces I knew I had to keep but didn't know quite what to do with it. I've always felt it had an "Asian" feel to it.Well, it seems since I made the piece, I've looked at much more art. My first thought in looking at it again was to think of the famous Japanese woodcut, The Great Wave.So after auditioning LOTS of threads, I started out, thinking this would work......but then, I stepped back from it and saw something else entirely. So here's my fabric before I did any quilting.Tomorrow should be a fun day in the studio!!!

Most of this last weekend has been spent in the garden. There is still lots to do but I made a good dent in getting the weeds out. The temperature has been prefect in that it's not to hot yet.I forgot to show this sampler quilt a while back, this was part of a Civil War Sampler Quilt Challenge offered at Two Thimbles Quilt Shop. It was on display at the shop until last month. The idea was to use scraps only for the blocks, all the fabric for the blocks was provided. I added the sashing and border from my stash. You can see them all hanging here and the winners here.I also finished this little quilt with applique, I like to use the freezer paper method. The log cabin blocks are made using scraps from a friends stash. She is down sizing and offered our stitching group some of her fabric. It was fun incorporating her fabric in my project.Happy Quilting!

That's what he is...spoiled rotten.and he knows how to manipulate us with his charming little bird-personality. see how he weasels his way into our hearts?(and hair)... see how coy he acts as he snuggles up against our cheeks?...pitiful. ? but we oblige him ~we allow him to walk all over usand nest in the crooks of our necksfor a short nap. ? Hannah was home last weekend for a visit ...and met Mr. Peach for the 1st time.it was love at first sight ~ for both of them. ? what's not to love?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am home from a week's visit to CT ~ always good to see mom & my sisters...the Brimfield show was great ~ beautiful weather, lots of walking, great food and thousands of vendors!I didn't buy much ~ a small bag of whalebone buttons, an old rug hook (told you i'd find one!)and some cruddy old wooden boxes ...that will become pinkeeps. I have been working on a book deadline, and got alot of work finished for it while being up home.this week will be filled with finishing up details, paperwork, filling orders...etc.we are also planning on another update here on the blog with new (and wonderful) items...and I'll announce the date for that soon ~ In the meantime, I have been designing new cross stitch patterns ...and hope to release them early to mid June ~ one is entitled"Summerfield"and the other is called"Reverend Gourdon Squashbottom"and I am hoping to get a couple more finished up ~ I almost forgot to tell you that I will have another design in the upcoming Just Cross Stitch Halloween Collection Special Interest Publicationwhich will be on newsstands in another month or so ~never too early to think of Halloween around here!...the design that will be in the publication is called"Matilda Hornbuckle" so sharpen those needles my friends, gather your flosses and linens...there's lots of Good Things coming!Lori fromNotforgotten Farm

I just got home from the World's Most Beautiful beaches. Panama City Beach, Florida. I have family there and used to live there twenty-seven years ago. I am busy with laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I also am busy going through all my emails. I did not have access to the internet at my mom's house. She doesn't have any need for it so why pay for it. Anyway, I will be back to blogging in a couple days. I have several things to share with you from the trip. With Passion,Carrie P.ps thanks for all the comments from the previous post. I just finished reading them but I am not going to reply to them all since it has been a week. I do appreciate you stopping by though.

32 machines – 32 quilters all sewing away in St. Charles Illinois! Today we are working on pineapple Blossom blocks, and having a great time while focusing on finding the sweet spot for our perfect quarter-inch seem, marking lines for perfectly sized bonus triangles, and sewing up the scraps! It's a beautiful Monday afternoon – and we couldn't be happier than to be spending this time together

If a local fabric/craft store is going out of business and has marked all of their button cards to 25 cents, is it necessary to exercise self control? If the buttons are made in Germany, I vote "no"! :)

I'm home from a whirlwind trip to Portland, Oregon for the Spring 2013 International Quilt Market! Portland is a beautiful city, and I truly appreciated the cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and light rains. I have quite a lot of photos, so I'll break it up into a few posts. Today's post will focus on Day One and some of the quilts I pieced for market. I was lucky to be able to have a mini "
