I finished chain piecing parts of my blocks yesterday. It looks like a big mess at this point. I am trying to catch up for the next step in Doreen's jelly roll sew along! Not having electricity put me behind. I hope to get the blocks put together today. Lots of pressing first! With Passion,Carrie P.

I’m not sure if I posted this before… Our last big meal together was held on the top floor of the Europa hotel. It’s a beautiful hotel – I couldn’t believe how lucky were were for the entirety of our trip with the hotels we stayed in. Okay, so the first one in Galway was a bit rambunctious with the pub being right below my window, and then there was that wedding party that went past 2:30am –

Miss A rocked the Embroidery Floss Color Wheel! The Floss Assortment had some variegated flosses that she worked into the wheel too. Very pretty & satisfying group of colors Brother L, aged 8, took the remaining skeins and worked his own color arrangement while Miss A did the color wheel. We spent a good amount of time graphing out charts for the gingham cross stitch project. Brother L decided in a split second that he was graphing a Creeper from the Minecraft games for his project. Miss A stayed with hearts, circles and her name for her project. I was clueless about the Creeper but now I know! Brother L caught on immediately! Stitching the Creeper! Miss A started stitching her Heart Sampler. She agreed that she could probably stitch 2 more hearts and then fill them with variegated thread by next Tuesday.About an hour after she left, she called to tell me she was done with the heart outlines. Then asked if it was OK if she went ahead and stitched the centers today. Yep, some good stitching was had by all!

Find the recipe in our cookbook, Get-Togethers with Gooseberry Patch!   Just Peachy Hand PiesFrom Vickie's kitchen, these are so tasty when peaches are at their summertime peak. Try them with your favorite filling too!  1 T. butter4 t. cornstarch1/3 c. plus 1 T.     sugar, divided2 lbs. peaches, pitted,     peeled and diced1 t. cinnamon1/8 t. salt1 T. lemon juice4 9-inch pie crusts1 egg, beatenMelt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Combine cornstarch with 1/3 cup sugar; add to skillet. Stir in peaches, cinnamon and salt. Cook until mixture thickens and boils, about 25 minutes, stirring frequently. Boil for one minute; remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Cool completely; set aside. Cut crusts into quarters; spoon 2 tablespoons filling into the center of each quarter, leaving 3/4-inch dough uncovered on each side. Fold dough over filling; press edges together to seal. Transfer pies to 2 ungreased baking sheets. Brush tops of pies with egg; sprinkle with remaining sugar. Cut a one-inch slit in the top of each pie. Bake at 425 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes until golden, rotating baking sheets between upper and lower racks halfway through baking. Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes 16 pies. I recently read a post about truncating blog posts. It seems that there are folks out there that have nothing better to do then to pirate your blog. I've not found my blog pirated, but I have been receiving some suspicious comments. Also when I check my stats, there are some very strange sites listed as referring my blog. So I thought I would truncate my blog posts for a while and see if that helps. I've collected lots of scrap fabrics, so I thought I would try to work on a strippy quilt again. I love THIS ONE by Busy Hands Quilts with the black centers. I came across a black sheet a while ago that I was going to use for backing. But as it has some worn spots, I think it will work great for a strippy quilt. Happy Quilting!!

Every single morning when I get up, I have to decide what I am going to wear. Sometimes it is an easy decision, other times it is tough. There are days when I look in the mirror and sigh (hurmph). Do I look sharp or frumpy. But each and every day, the garden is dressed with no cares. The seeds were planted, and they know what they will produce. We water and fertilize and wait for the beautiful show. Some of the fruit are beautiful, and some are a little wonky. But they taste delicious just the same. "Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? "Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? "Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself."Encourage One Another

Can Paradise REALLY be a pumpkin? Well it can if it is MORE than one! This is "Pumpkin Paradise" block 7 of my 9 block "Red Apple Lane" BOM being run by quilt shops. Make a single block or the whole quilt.. let's take a look I can't wait to hang this quilt in my home, right now it's 'touring' to visit all of you! I can't decide if I'll hang it in my living room or use it on the couch. Which would you do? I loved selecting the fabrics for this block. I mixed my cotton and batiks. The batiks allow me so much range of color and 'shading' and go perfect with cottons. It's a great way to work... A close up of the quilting and stitching. For the pumpkins I quilted curves for the ridges, I like how it makes the shape feel even  more curvy.  The watering can is accented with a rim. Quilting gives the can a vertical feel. This is my tonal red from the batiks in the line.  If you have not mixed your fabrics yet, you should! Don't they look great?  I never tire of the shape of a pumpkin. Right now I'm spotting loads of fun photos of gardens where the pumpkins are just starting to form. The blossom is so beautiful! One year my neighbors planted pumpkins in their front gardent and they spread out over the yard .. their children had SUCH a blast watching them grow.   This photo was taken at one of my local markets last fall, the grey green pumpkins fascinate me. The blocks look fantastic by themselves or grouped into the whole quilt. CLICK HERE for Prior Sew Along Posts. Patricia Pepe knows just what quilters want and her X-Blocks rulers deliver! I think all quilters love the look of complicated quilt-especially when they know it’s not as hard as it looks.  The X-Blocks series of rulers use nothing harder than either 3 strips or a 9 patch block.  My second favorite thing about them is the versatility.  You can use these rulers for so many varied design options
