Here is what is blooming today. These Tulips have a feathered edge. I love them.Alliums are always a surprise when they open. Small old fashion Iris. My Red Peony is ready to burst open, it has 9 buds this year. This Bleeding Heart is in our compost pile. It is huge, maybe 3 feet across. Tomato plants in their pots with the cages ready to support them. One is a grape tomato and the other is a normal sized tomato for sandwiches this summer. They both have buds on them. My Petunias this year are white and dark burgundy. Hubby made the wheel barrow a few years ago and it is sitting where there was a pine tree stump. My purple Columbine. This was our old camping tea kettle. It is now my planter sitting on a tree stump which was cut down last fall to make room for our storage barn.Lilly of the Valley are growing like crazy any place hubby planted them. They spread very fast. But I love their smell and bloom.

Since the beginning of March I have been entirely focused on preparing a class for Craftsy. If you are unfamiliar with them...on their website they describe themselves like this: A wide selection of online crafting classes from the best instructors from around the world. Watch your classes from anywhere, from any device with an internet connection. Take them anytime you want, as many times as you want. Your access never expires. Classes are on a wide range of subjects, including cake decorating, crocheting, cooking, machine embroidery, home & garden, jewelry, knitting, paper crafts, sewing, weaving, spinning, and.....QUILTING, which is in fact their most popular category by far. So you can imagine how utterly thrilled and honored I was to be asked to teach a class on crazy quilting! I prepared for my "shoot" for 2 1/2 months, designing the class, sewing up class projects, samples, and step-outs. This week I finally went to Denver for three days to put all that hard work onto video. People will be able to sign up for Crazy Quilting from anywhere in the world! Beyond that, part of my job, and one I am really looking forward to, is interacting with my students online, via the fabulous software "platform" the Craftsy software engineers have developed. I'll be answering students' questions, looking at pictures of work that they post--and students will be able to interact with each other, too. So I want to share a glimpse of my week, working with my great crew at Craftsy... This is where my day started, as Danica worked to make me look presentable on camera. I am telling you, it was a WHOLE lot more make-up than I have ever worn, but she knew what she was doing. I never did get used to it though! The first morning, Amy got the set all decorated. Max, who was the "switcher", actually editing the footage from the two cameras as they were rolling, got everything all set up and perfect, ready to go. My fabulous producer/director, Alissa Norton, was such a pro...I couldn't have gone 5 minutes without her guidance, creativity, and support. We had a beautiful collaborative experience over the 3 day shoot, and I left with a true new friend. Alissa ran one of the cameras, and Rob here ran the other one, as well as being in charge of the sound. It was so cool to see how Max, Rob, and Alissa choreographed the shoot over the three days. I was calling myself "Gloria Swanson"--like the heavily made-up character in the original "Sunset Boulevard"--because of all the make-up I had on. But they assured me, it wasn't so much! Here I am getting ready for the "Stashbusters" segment, one of the highlights of the whole experience. You can tell, I was having a blast.... On the last day we grabbed some lunch together before the final afternoon of shooting. We knew we were coming down the homestretch and were feeling great about our work. The class will be launched in about a month...I'll be sure and let you know when it does. I'm really excited about being able to introduce crazy quilting in this new (to me) venue. Sending thanks and love to my friends at Craftsy for giving me the opportunity! And...now I can start blogging about what I'm working on again! It's been a long hiatus. I'm looking forward to posting things as they happen in the sewing room once more.... See you soon!

This is the couch throw I made for my DIL Terri. It is the project with the thick yarn and Q hook. She decided this was as big as she wanted it because the yarn does not go far and is pricey. I love the way it looks and it was different making it with the big hook. These are some hexies that Terry got as a kit awhile back and I offered to do them for her because I love to do them. It is relaxing for me to do hand work. I am doing them by the paper piecing method, I printed and cutout the 60 pieces to do them on. Not sure how she wants them put together yet but this is only half of them, there are 60 here. Not sure on centers yet either. This was used by our son and when hubby's recliner died he offered this to us. It replaces the recliner and a very uncomfortable old chair. Makes the room look very different. It will take some getting used to. Both ends recline individually.

A simple craft that will make you a Rockstar!   Any kid (or adult for that matter) that has watched The Wheel of Fortune  has longed to spin that giant prize wheel. When we went to the fair last summer,  there were booths set up with smaller, but equally as awesome prize wheels that the kids got to spin...once. I vowed to remedy that.   Say hello to the… Click here to read more >>>

Did hang wash out yesterday and today. Nice to have laundry dried outside. Smells so nice too.  We have Memorial Day at our local family cemetery the 3rd Sunday in May which is this coming Sunday. This is an old custom of decorating

Hi...Welcome to another Thirsty Thursday. I was in a convenient store where they have the self serve coffee and drink station. I usually get hot coffee, but when the weather is warmer it's iced coffee. Yum!!My daughter reminded me that they have the flavor station there too. It's a machine that dispenses a drop or two of flavoring in your drink. Lots of flavors too. I thought to myself...I can do this at home with extract!!One cup of hot coffee and a drop of coconut extract...Add some cream and it is delicious...Then I thought about making a mocha frappe...PLEASE CLICK HERE TO READ MORE OF THIS POST!! »
