Just over a month ago I introduced you two Linde Werdelin’s newest pieces, the “Tech Green” and “Tech Gold”.   These new watches are part of the SpidoLite II family and feature a forged carbon case in combination with a proprietary ultra-light alloy inner case.  I think that the term “Carbon Tech” is a better and more exciting descriptor of this watch, but that’s just me.   Anyway, as I said in my initial introduction of the SpidoLite carbon tech, the materials innovation here is a perfect fit for LW’s already high-tech, modern sport watches.   My favorable impression of these watches was reinforced when I met with Linde Werdelin a few weeks ago at Baselworld.   Below are some hands on pics along with a bit of commentary and ordering information. Written by Chaz NashBaume & Mercier and brand ambassador Emmanuelle Chriqui collaborated on a braided leather watch strap to add a bit of a creative twist to its Linea Watch collection.Actress, philanthropist, spokesperson for Colon Cancer Canada, brand ambassador and now creative designer for Baume & Mercier has collaborated with the luxury watchmaker to design an incredible braided leather watch strap which adds dimensional character to the Linea watch collection. Chriqui’s selection of colors for the watch straps include neutral sand, orange and white, colors she points out that are casual and staples for women’s fashion ensemble needs. She admits also wanting to include an electric blue strap, however, it was not to be. However, she was pleased with the choice for an orange strap, a bright color she equates with the chakra power center.Chriqui was pleased when Baume & Mercier approached her and asked if she would be interested in collaborating on a piece. She made a special visit to the watch manufacture’s factory spending several days discussing her concept of a hard and soft design combination, which she felt would complement the interchangeable Linea line by incorporating both elements to further diversify the Linea watch collection’s visual essence.Chriqui’s assessment was on right on target as the creative collaboration produced a beautifully braided watch strap that extends an already elegantly designed watch, making it fashionably flexible while conveying a fresh air of elegance.Linea features a round 27mm satin-brushed stainless steel case with a polished bezel displaying etched numerals one through twelve. The hour/minute and seconds hands are ruthenium. The case is contrasted by a beautiful mother-of-pearl dial with riveted stainless steel indexes at each hour station with the exception of the 6 o’clock position, where a date aperture window is located.Linea has a quartz movement which is protected by an antiglare sapphire crystal and it is water resistance up to 50 meters. It is of course adorned with the new Chriqui design braided leather straps which has a pin buckle closure.Linea (Model 10115) Orange leather strapLinea (Model 10116) – Beige (warm sand) leather strapLinea (Model 10117) – White leather strapLinea is available for $2100 and is according to Baume & Mercier’s website a limited edition watch, however, there is no indication as to the number of pieces for each colored strap model, you’ll just have to leap on purchasing your favorite color!
